Junya Watanabe MAN has revealed a sleek and mostly black hued collection for its Fall/Winter 2023 season at Paris Fashion Week.

This season falls on the opposite spectrum from its Spring/Summer 2023 collection where bursts of color were brought onto the runway with an amalgamation of pop culture references. Maintaining a singular monochromatic color scheme this season, the show began with an introduction of suiting in fitted tailoring. Simple black blazers and fitted trouses featuring a slight utilitarian flair, including a zipper detail that opens up from the heel to the mid-calf. Various renditions of blazers were showcased in mixed materials, combining leather with wool and even nylon.

Nylon details were featured throughout the collection to create a practical aesthetic. Blazers featured nylon pockets throughout, as seen also on fisherman vests and padded cross body bags for added functionality. The words sleek and understated come to mind with many of these looks. To add to the technical aspect of the show, Junya Watanabe MAN expands its collaborations with Carhartt WIP, Palace, Levi’s and New Balance. A GORE-TEX and Palance winter nylon puffer jacket stole the show, as did a multi-pocketed rendition of the wind breaker and chore jacket cross over with Carhartt. An all-black Levi’s jumpsuit featuring white stitching all over remains a prominent memory as did the New Balance 650s in all-black suede.

Junya Watanabe MAN takes biker chic to the next level, taking the structure of biking safety gear including helmets, knee pads and elbow pads and incorporating them to the final portion of the collection. The added technical details are seen on overcoats, blazers, as well as trousers. Take a look above at the full collection.
