Dolly Parton’s honesty about her “rags to rhinestone” story is part of what draws so many fans to her. Despite her celebrity, she’s happy to talk about herself with media and fans, sometimes in raunchy terms. In keeping up with her honesty, she also shared what she considers her worst trait. Surprisingly, it’s part of what fans love about her.

Dolly Parton likes to tell raunchy stories about herself

When on talk shows and other interviews, Parton loves to crack jokes at her own expense. She famously named her breasts “Shock” and “Awe” and has a joke about not wanting to run for president because there are “enough boobs in the White House.”

In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Parton told a story about a time when a man approached her at a restaurant. After he left, Parton realized he’d stuck her with his bill. Later, she ran into him outside. She told him that while she was happy to pay, she wished he would have just asked her first.

Parton said that the man was insulted and began hitting her across the chest with his walking stick. Fallon, shocked, asked what happened next.

“What do you mean, what happened?” she said. “These two big lumps came up, and they never did go down.”

She named her ‘most deplorable’ trait

Though some of Parton’s comments about her looks, sex life, and wardrobe are likely a defense after years of nasty rumors about her, they’re also a natural part of her personality. Surprisingly, she considers this part of her personality her worst trait. When Vanity Fair asked Parton about the trait she most deplores in herself, she responded, “The fact that sometimes my mouth is a little too big and a little too open and sounds too much like a sailor.”

For fans, though, Parton’s brazen personality is a major part of why they love her. It proves her claim that she looks fake but is completely real.

Fans need not worry about Parton censoring herself too much, though. In the same interview, she joked that she most related to “Snow White, because she slept with the seven dwarfs and got away with it.” She also said that she thinks the most overrated virtue is “Monogamy — I’m sorry, I meant monotony.”

Dolly Parton’s sister says she isn’t always honest with the media

Though she’s quick with a raunchy joke, Parton’s sister Stella says she isn’t always completely honest with the press.

“Oh she’s full of crap,” Stella said in the book Smart Blonde: Dolly Parton by Stephen Miller. “Yeah, anybody that can write that many songs can make up a lot of stuff … she’s got an imagination that won’t quit.”

She gave an example of a time she read a story about herself in the press that she knew wasn’t true.

“I have read that we went shopping and I’ve seen it in Good Housekeeping that we shopped in New York and she’s never taken me to New York shopping, ever, so I called her up and I said, ‘What the heck is this? We went shopping, where’s my stuff … I mean that’s all baloney,’” she explained. “She said, ‘I’ll get it for you later. It sounds good in the press you know.’”
