NEXT time you choose your seat on a plane, opting for one at the back may be the better choice.

A flight attendant has revealed that this is more likely to get you bumped to first class for free, if the flight is quiet.

Cierra Mistt, who works as a flight attendant for an airline in the US, has been sharing her top tips and secrets about flying.

Her recent video, shared to her 2.8m follows on TikTok, revealed that passengers at the back of the flight are more likely to get lucky for a first class upgrade.

She said in the video: "If our flight isn't full, we have to move people for weight and balance purposes.

"Normally all aircraft are tail heavy.

"So if we have to move people up to the front, where do you think we are going to take them from? The back."

However, she said one of the "easiest ways" was just being nice to the gate attendants and flight crew, such as bringing them a drink or snacks.

She added it was amazing the "miracles they could work when given a Starbucks drink or a box of chocolates" as they often don't have time for food if working back to back flights.

A different flight attendant explained that for a first class upgrade, the thing to leave at home is the jeans and trainers, but it doesn't mean you have to wear expensive designer gear.

They said: "Smart but understated. You should look like you travel often…it helps.

"Someone who is potentially due to get an upgrade can be knocked back if they aren't dressed suitably."

Another flight attendant added: "No jeans or trainers — so I always go for tight black trousers and a blazer or a dress.
