BRITS could reduce winter energy and rental costs by 'emigrating' somewhere warmer this January.

We've rounded up some long-stay holidays around Europe, with prices starting from just £21pp a night.

According to a research briefing of the UK parliament, "typical bills under the January to March 2024 price cap will be almost 60 per cent higher than in winter 2022".

Meanwhile, a survey from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that "52 per cent of adults in Great Britain reported an increase in their cost of living".

So, those looking for a January escape to a sunnier destination should watch out for these deals.

1. Malta

Halfway between Sicily and the coast of Tunisia, you can find Malta.

With typical high temperatures in the mid-20C, the island country is fortunate to have a sunny environment all year round.

British visitors are the most common here, accounting for 34 per cent of all hotel guests in the area.

Your January could consist of hanging around at the neon-lit bars at night and spending days working by the pool or on the beach.
