Brad Pitt, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are early adopters of intravenous vitamin therapy to help them stay fit and healthy. 

‘IV therapy is something that has been around for a long time,’ said celebrity personal trainer Carlos. 

But in recent years, the procedure has gone from common medical treatment to hot new trend used to cure everything from bad skin to a nasty hangover.

Infusions generally take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, and are performed by a licensed medical professional. 

‘It’s a great way to get your supplements like Vitamin B, C and D, in addition to  minerals and other good-for-you nutrients,’ revealed Carlos. ‘It also hydrates your body and will leave you feeling energetic.’

Make time for a social life 

While alone time is necessary to unwind, studies have shown that a strong social network supports physical and emotional health; we must strike a balance between solitude and socializing. 

‘It’s imperative – especially after the pandemic – that you spend quality time with friends and family, and socially with co-workers,’ said The Oleon co-founder.

Carlos also believes in entertainment to feed the soul. ‘Take yourself out to a movie, an exhibit or dinner.’

Take a break from it all

To function to the best of your ability, your mind, body and soul need a break.

With over 30-years experience as a personal trainer, Carlos says it’s important to schedule in a rest day.

Relaxing is not a waste of time. It soothes you, and helps you meet the challenges of the week with a good attitude and determination.

‘We must give our bodies time to recover. This can be from work, fitness or any other physical movement that stresses the body.’

‘When it comes to upgrading your lifestyle, it should include some sense of wellness or wellbeing practice,’ shared Menna.  The expert recommends starting simple:

1) Be specific about why it is you want to incorporate wellness into your lifestyle.

2) Choose 3 wellness activities or practices that really vibe with you, then review your daily, weekly, monthly schedule and decide where it can fit in.

3) Commit to it and see it through. If you are looking for long term change then stay the course. There will be peaks and valleys so if you know “why” you’re doing it you will find the fire to keep going. Here are her suggestions:

Example: ‘You are on beach in Greece watching the sunset and you want to savor that moment. You step outside of it and have a moment of gratitude and are mindful.’ 

Exercise: ‘Write down any moment you experience as a savoring moment in a journal for 7 days. Take note of where you were, what were you doing at the time. Notice what or how you feel.’

‘Studies show that writing down five things you are grateful for once a week is going to influence you. You are going to want to eat better, even exercise more, and feel better, all because you set out to explore what it means to add an act of gratitude to your lifestyle.’

Exercise: Menna suggests writing down five things to be grateful for once a week for a month and noticing what changes occur in your life.

‘The act of slowing down and becoming familiar with yourself improves relaxation, regulates your breath and heart rate, and enhances the flow of constructive thoughts and positive emotions,’ shared Menna

Exercise: ‘Sit in a chair or lay down and place a pillow under your knees. For 3-5 minutes close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath. Follow the breath and notice the mind begin to slow down as the breath and heartrate slow down. They work coherently as one. Decide how many days a week you can commit to this then write in your calendar and practice it for 30 days.
