Make no mistake, we’re utterly wedded to our platforms. But if there’s one person who could inspire us to switch up our footwear and consider ballet flats, it’s the Duchess of Sussex.

The stylish royal recently appeared in a new video shared on Instagram by “self-care” drinks brand Clevr. Adored by media superstar Oprah Winfrey, Clevr is best known for its “SuperLattes” and on Monday it posted a video of its origin story which featured Meghan.

The brand’s founder and CEO Hannah Mendoza explained how Meghan had supported Clevr when she became its first investor three years ago. The duchess appeared in the video wearing a seriously stylish ensemble as she chatted to Hannah while drinking a Clevr blend. Check it out here…

Meghan looked characteristically chic in a crisp white shirt, dark denim skinny jeans, and a beige trench coat by British heritage label Burberry. But the part of her outfit that caught our eye the most was her elegant ballet flats by luxury Italian footwear label Aquazzura.

Ballet pumps have been making something of a resurgence among the fashion set of late. The footwear design, which dominated the 2010s, has seemingly captured the hearts of today’s style obsessives. Miu Miu’s AW22 cult-adored satin pumps are a case in point, as are Prada’s more angular iterations which were showcased within its recent Milan Fashion Week show.

If that wasn’t enough to tempt you, the Princess of Wales is also a fan. The stylish royal inspired a stampede (albeit a virtually silent one, given the soft-padded nature of the style) towards Camilla Elphick’s chic ‘Alicia’ flats when she wore them to the Royal Charity Polo cup back in July 2022.

Meghan’s pair of choice were crafted from suede and featured a point-toe silhouette with teardrop-shaped cut-outs at the sides and minimalist gold block heels. Her black and sapphire blue pair are currently unavailable to buy, but if you’re wanting to channel Meghan via your own Balletcore moment, you can inject a bit of colour with Aquazzura’s ‘Fenix’ style in an alternative red, indigo and violet colourway.
