Getting tired of riding the Teacups at Disney World? Have you spent more time walking through the Wizardly World of Harry Potter at Universal than it took J.K Rowling to pen the series?
Well, if you’re searching for your next amusement park adventure, look no further than Glendale, Arizona. One of the world’s most beloved toy manufacturers, Mattel joins forces with the folks behind Crystal Lagoons Island Resort to create a new theme park by late 2022.

Dubbed the Mattel Adventure Park, this upcoming attraction is set to bring several of the company’s most successful franchises to life. From a Thomas the Train indoor park to a Hot Wheels themed rollercoaster, it’ll surely to provide endless fun to kids of all ages.
Fans the children’s hit cartoon Thomas and Friends will be delighted to ride the first, to-scale Thomas the Tank Engine train.
“At Mattel, we are home to some of the most iconic, multi-generational franchises in the world,” the company’s senior director of global location-based entertainment, Julie Freeland explains in a statement, “By partnering with Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, we will be offering new and immersive ways for families to experience classic brands.”
Crystal Lagoons Island Resort is something that’s very unique to Arizona. The 10 acre entertainment district was first announced last year. It’s said to feature a plethora of top of the line restaurants, five star hotels, a 4-D theater, and plenty of other enticing attractions.
“The Crystal Lagoons and the Mattel themed Adventure Park will complement our thriving sports and entertainment district,” Glendale’s city manager explains, “and support our goal of being a premier destination for visitors from across the globe and for Glendale residents.”
“Over the coming weeks,” he continues, “we look forward to sharing the iconic hotel, restaurants, and entertainment brands that will join the Mattel Adventure Park in calling Glendale home as part of this world-class resort development.”
City documents estimate Crystal Lagoon bringing in $240.5 million of revenue over the span of 25 years. The average annual revenue is estimated rack up to $9.6 million for the city. Even better, the project is expected to generate upwards of 1,800 new jobs.
There’s no need to spend all your vacation days at Epcot anymore. When the Mattel Adventure Park opens in 2022, it’ll surely be the next big thing in themed entertainment.
