A TEN pound note which is almost a century old could sell for £26,000.

The extremely rare original paper banknote from May 1929 is in remarkably clean condition.

It comes from Dublin’s Northern Bank with signatures for J. Brennan and SW Knox.

The auctioneers, coins and money specialists Dix Noonan Web, said it is “very fine and extremely rare”.

They added that it is “difficult to find, especially in this grade”.

The note is expected to fetch £22,000 to £26,000 at auction on Wednesday in Mayfair, central London.
