Every New Moon in a lunar year falls in a different zodiac sign, and the first New Moon of this astrological year is occurring on April 12 in Aries. Express.co.uk chatted to Moon Mentor and author of Lunar Living: Working with the Magic of the Moon Cycles, Kirsty Gallagher (@kirsty_gallagher_ on Instagram), to find out.
On Monday, April 12 at 3.31 am, the Aries New Moon will be in the sky, even though you can’t see it.
New Moons always force you to reflect on the past month and figure out what you need to let go of and what new habits you want to create for the lunar cycle ahead.
The last New Moon in Pisces brought endings to create new beginnings, and the Libra Full Moon encouraged us to end anything that is finished in our lives and heal our relationship with ourselves.

The first sign in the zodiac is Aries because the Sun is in Aries when the new astrological year begins.
Kirsty said: “There is so much fiery Aries energy in the skies right now. The Moon, along with four other planets, are all lined up in the first sign of the zodiac to encourage you to move forwards in your life.
“All New Moons begin a new cycle, but this New Moon opens up a cycle that will last for the next 12 months.
“What you seed and plant at this New Moon is going to determine the direction of your life for the astrological year ahead.”
Sounds serious, right? Don’t see this New Moon as pressure to figure everything out – use it as your chance to set goals and manifest what you want to happen this year.
Kirsty said: “Aries the pioneer, the instigator, the leader and the trailblazer of the zodiac is leading us into fresh new beginnings.
“I find it so fitting that this is the same date that everything (in the UK) begins to open back up, and this New Moon is asking the same of you – to open yourself back up to life.”

You might already feel small changes inside, Kirsty said. She explained: “This New Moon is going to feel like a real turning point.
“For all those times over the last year that you have felt lost, broken, uncertain and as though you had no clue about the direction of your life this Moon will bring a moment of clarity.
“Under this Moon, it will feel as though things are finally clicking into place and making sense, this is the light we have been looking for in a very long, dark tunnel.”
Forget all of the bad things that have happened over the last year and take the Aries New Moon as a signal to heal and take the next step.
Kirsty noted: “This New Moon is here to help you to move forwards in your life.
“You are being fully supported by the planets, the Universe and most of all YOU.
“It’s really time to trust in yourself and know that you are a powerful creator capable of anything you set your mind and heart to. Trust in the magic, trust in you. Move forwards.”
