Not that you normally need much encouragement to dig into a deliciously juicy burger, but seeing as today is National Burger Day, you’ve kind of got to.

In honour of the bun, we’ve rounded up our favourite burger joints around London where you can tuck in.

From all-American cheeseburgers to a specially-named Icelandic sandwich (please don’t ask us to pronounce it), here’s where you should be heading for dinner.

And don’t worry vegans, we haven’t forgotten about you! There are plenty of meat-free options on the list too.

Honest Burgers

Honest Burgers celebrates its tenth birthday this month and has built up a fantastic reputation thanks in part to having its own butchery.

Treat yourself to the Tribute (£12.50), with American cheese, bacon, French’s mustard and pickles, or the Chilli (£12.50), with chilli cheese, house-made hot sauce and pickled jalapenos.

UK-wide.

Dirty Bones

Pair your burger with a cocktail at Dirty Bones, whose New York-inspired at-home kits are available nationwide.

Try the Mac Daddy — beef patties layered with macaroni cheese and pulled beef short rib with espresso-spiked BBQ sauce — or pimp your burger and build it yourself.

Team with an Old Fashioned and crispy lamb fries.

Tommi’s Burger Joint

This one’s a real mouthful: the Verslunarmannahelgi (named after Iceland’s national August holiday) is the monthly special at Icelandic burger purveyors Tommi’s Burger Joint in Soho, and today they’re serving it with a 50 per cent discount (making it £4.95).

It features braised lamb shoulder cooked with smoked garlic, juniper, honey, and Arctic thyme, with Nordic dill pickles, cheese, and Skyr (Icelandic yoghurt).

Neat Burger

Fans of vegan cuisine and Formula One racing will be delighted that a new branch of Lewis Hamilton’s award-winning plant-based fast-food group Neat Burger has recently raced into Finsbury Park.

Try The Big Stack, with double Neat Meat, triple bun, lettuce, onions, pickles and Tangy Big Stack Sauce (£9.99), or the Cheese Burger (£6.49) with American-style vegan cheese, ketchup, mustard and onion.

Vinegar Yard

National Burger Day has its own, official celebration, which will be happening tomorrow at Vinegar Yard in London Bridge.

Bringing the best of the London scene and burger fans together, you’ll find patties from the likes of Bleecker St, Baba G’s, BOB’s Lobster and Black Bear Burger, alongside a cheeseburger pizza from Bad Boys Pizza Society and Adam Rawson’s winning Slider Decider patties.

Tickets £12, including two cans of Two Tribes lager or ale, are available from Eventbrite.
