Queen Maxima of the Netherlands chose a silver one-shoulder embellished dress by Elie Saab. The monarch combined the floor-length tulle gown with a shiny diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings. Two of the Princesses also opted for one-shoulder dresses except for Amalia, the King and Queen’s eldest daughter, who wore a forest green gown by Asos.

Princess Amalia chose the Ruched Bodice Drape Maxi Dress with Wrap Waist in Forest Green which she has donned on other occasions before.

Her sister Princess Ariane looked beautiful in a Missoni polka dot dress and statement earrings posing next to Princess Alexia.

Alexia of the Netherlands donned a black asymmetric long-sleeve dress from Zara, styled her hair in a low ponytail and wore blue nail polish.

On social media, the Dutch Royal Family said: “Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2023.

“Many thanks for the heartwarming wishes we received from you – WA and Maxima.”

Royal fans took to the comment section to share their thoughts with many saying the Princesses looked “gorgeous”.

Talking about Queen Maxima’s silver dress, @luxmeagainpreloved said: “This is a gorgeous Grecian style gown that will still look beautiful in 20 years!

“The hair and makeup and jewellery are just perfect. Love the pampered fur baby. And the girls are gorgeous.”

Royal watcher and social media user @rletizia08 commented that the Queen’s gown “was stunning”.

Another one, @liaperita, opined that she “didn’t like the necklace with that dress, but the dress is gorgeous”.

Many fans joked about how scruffy their dog looked with @redheadcagrl saying: “Queen Maxima looks beautiful! I love that she is holding the dog and that it is scruffy, ha! The Christmas card is lovely!”

@ciaramquill said: “Poor dog needs to be groomed” and @ciaramquill agreed: “The dog needs a bath/groom!”

Instagram user @2414_betty said they were “all beauties” and another one commented that the Princesses looked “absolutely stunning”.

Talking about Princess Alexia, who was wearing a black dress, a social media user said: “She looks amazing. So pretty and grown up. Love the hair and make-up. Mom and dad have a full house of beautiful young ladies.”

@princesalorenita added: “She rocks it!! And the body she has! And that hairstyle and the nails she made a statement.”

Maxima was born in Argentina but joined the Dutch Royal Family when she married King Willem-Alexander in 2002.

She became Queen when the former King and Queen of the Netherlands abdicated in 2013.

Princess Catharina-Amalia began her studies this year at the University of Amsterdam, where she is enrolled in the Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics Bachelor’s program.

The Dutch Royal House announced earlier this year that the future Queen of the Netherlands would be living in Amsterdam while studying.

“Accommodation will be rented that the Princess will share with some fellow students,” the Palace said.
