A BRIDE who insisted that her wedding should be child-free has prompted anger after revealing that she sent a bill to people who dared to bring their offspring to her nuptials.

The woman took to Reddit to explain the situation in a post on the website's Am I The Asshole? forum, as she revealed that she and her husband had "made it clear to guests" that children were not invited to the wedding.

"The kids are generally good, so the main issue was cost," she wrote, explaining that for any child above the age of two, they would be charged $250 per person.

In a bid to placate parents attending the wedding, the pair extended the pre-wedding dinner the night before to include children.

They also hired "five babysitters for 25-30 kids on the wedding night for locals who couldn't find a babysitter last-minute and for guests who traveled with their kids".

"My in-laws offered their home less than 30min away to host all the kids," she added.

But despite their strict rules, three couples turned up on the wedding day with their children – a total of nine kids all together.

"Groomsmen offered to drive the kids to the house, but they refused and made a scene," she continued.

Her husband was called over to handle the situation and agreed that the children could stay as long as they didn't cause any trouble, and as long as the parents paid per head for their kids.

While the bride "saw that unfolding", she did her best to avoid the situation and enjoy her wedding day.

"When the ceremony started, one kid started wailing and another skipped down the aisle in front of me," she wrote.

"I played it cool, and the staff was on top of it. They escorted the mom and the 2 kids outside. The rest of the ceremony went smoothly."

Things didn't go as smoothly during the reception though, as two kids started "screaming and throwing food".

"At one point, one kid went under my dress, which was so f**king weird," she continued

"I didn't notice and almost tripped.

"My bridesmaids pointed out that the food they threw got on my dress and that's when I had enough.

During the reception, two kids were screaming and throwing food… some even went on my dress."

"I gave my husband 'the look' and he rounded up the kids, brought them to the parents, and asked them to leave for good."

Following the wedding, the newlyweds "sent a bill to the 3 couples with a letter saying we had a lovely time with them and reminding they agreed to pay for the uninvited kids".

"Two couples paid and were apologetic, and even said now they understood why we couldn't include the kids," she wrote.

"Of course, the couple with the 2 rowdy kids refused to pay because we asked them to leave before cake… seriously.

"Instead of apologising, we got a nasty call."

Her husband said that was the end of his friendship with the offending pair, and when they asked to visit recently, they declined.

"They asked if we were still mad about them not paying and uh yeah, we are," she concluded, before asking: "Am I the asshole?"

In the comments section, the majority of people agreed that the bride wasn't in the wrong for her actions.

"I would be livid," one person wrote.

"The amount of entitlement of all the parents who brought kids after being told not to is pretty shocking… but the rowdy kids’ parents take the cake."

And another agreed, commenting: "Reading your post I felt second hand fury so strong.

"The audacity and level of entitlement of those people. They’ve just proven why they’re not worth knowing."
