A professional piercer named Marie, who posts under the handle @piercingsby_marie, took to TikTok and shared a video revealing the four piercings she wouldn't recommend.
In the clip, she begins with back dermals – a type of piercing that's located on the lower back and enters into the indented area where the pelvis and spine meet.
Next on the list of piercings Marie advises steering clear of are smiley piercings, which enter the tissue that connects the inside of your upper lip with your upper gum.
Marie also wouldn't advise nape/neck piercings which are placed at the back of the neck near the base.
Finally, and the one that caused quite the response online, was cheek piercings.

Endless social media users replied asking why cheek piercings were on Marie's recommended piercings to avoid, so the pro shared a second informative video, offering an explanation.
In the clip, she says: "Cheek piercings can be hard to heal because they're in a high movement area.
"So any time you're eating or talking that bar's going to be moving around.

"They're also in a spot where if you're not careful when you eat, you can bite down on that bar and break your teeth."

She continues: "The movement can cause migration which is going to lead to scarring.
"So if it doesn't heal properly, you're going to have some scars where the piercing is."
The video has since racked up over 9.2 million views and been flooded with comments.
"All dermal piercings just make me uncomfy tbh," noted one.
A second penned: "I love smiley piercings. Was hoping to get one next year."
A third commented: "Smileys are so cute I hate that they’re bad for you."
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "WHY THE BACK DERMALS I LOVE MINE SO MUCHHHH CUTEST PIERCINGS EVER."
