WE all dream of decking out our homes with luxury furniture, but sadly, we don't all have the budget to do so.

Luckily, there are some budget tips that'll help make your cheap furniture look super expensive for less than a tenner so you don't have to dip into your savings.

You don't need to worry about being an experienced renovator either as the tips are easy enough for anyone to do.

Leg go

If you don't like the look of your sofa then a simple change might be all you need – and we don't mean replacing the furniture item altogether.

Try sprucing up the one you have with a set of new legs which you can easily attach to the bottom.

Most are removable, and cheap too, but if they aren't you can try painting them instead for a brand new look.

Heads up

If you enjoy a little DIY consider making your own headboard, that way you can get away with having a cheap bed frame while still giving the room a luxury feel.

Kim suggests using an old door which she reckons makes the perfect headboard, but be sure your chosen one is "wider than the bed and at least 7 feet in height."

Try looking through skip bins and checking out online marketplaces, including Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace.

You will most likely be able to pick one up for pennies, or even free.

Glass act

If you have a glass table you can't stand the look of, don't even think about throwing it away.

Instead, interior designer Kim Depole of Depole Design suggests giving it a super lush upgrade using metallic paint.

"Use silver or gold paint to cover the underside of the glass tabletop," she told Insider. "Since the paint is on the underside, you won't have to worry about spills."

You can pick up a tin for as little as £3.95 from Amazon so you don't have to spend big to get the stunning look.

Holy sheet

Instead of using metallic paint, you can also make your ordinary furniture look more expensive using metal sheets

Home interior influencers Reece & Paul recently tried the hack on their bargain timber shelves using £15 (ok, so this one's a little over £10) brushed brass sheets from metals4U – and their stunning bedroom shelves look very luxurious.

Paul McFadyen, Managing Director at metals4U said: "This great interior hack shows just how much you can save if you know how to be savvy with materials.

"Metal sheets are inexpensive and can really upscale the look of a home. Brass is great for the golden shades, whereas aluminium will give you a brilliant silver shine or if a darker metallic is more to your taste, then copper could be a great choice."

Throw in the towel

Another way to make your sofa look and feel more expensive is to include some fancy pillows or a super luxe throw.

By surrounding your large items with eye-popping pieces, the entire space will instantly feel more luxurious.

Don't be afraid to splurge a little on a new throw or cushions (keeping it under £10, of course) because it will still cost you way less than a new designer sofa.

The more the better as well, particularly if you want to hide the dirty old sofa you have.

Wrap it up

Sticky-back plastic can work wonders anywhere in the home and can easily transform your kitchen, bathroom or any other flat surface, including furniture.

You can pick some up for cheap from stores including Homebase and B&M,and they come in an array of colours and designs too.

One savvy DIY fan transformed her entire kitchen, including her work tops, without going broke splashing on real marble.

Get a handle on it

If you can't afford new furniture, that's ok – consider replacing the handles on your drawers and cabinets instead.

"You can swap out those generic handles or pulls with more aspirational options that will cost less than an entirely new piece of furniture," Anthony Stransky of Anthony Charles Interiors  told Insider.

You can pick these up from anywhere, including Amazon, and they can set you back just a few pounds.

And new-look handles can entirely change the look of your furniture along with a lick of fresh paint.

Looks fab-ric

Another way to make your existing furniture look brand new is by reupholstering it- and it's amazing what new fabric can do to the look of your chair or sofa.

Anothony said: "Reupholstering a low-end piece in more luxurious fabric will cost significantly less than paying for premium furniture."

You can do it yourself by watching tutorials on YouTube, or you can pay someone to do it for you which will still work out cheaper than buying new furniture.

Spray to go

You might think it's bonkers, but Brijé Alexandra, the principal designer at Harper + Parkyr Design House, suggests using spray insulation foam to really take thinks up a notch.

It's typically used to seal cracks and creates a fluffy texture when it's applied to surfaces which could make for a creative way to spruce up old furniture.

"This easy technique can be used to ramp up the drama for most accessories or furniture," Brijé said. "Simply spay the foam and cover with a coat of paint."

However, you should use it with care and spray the foam outside to avoid inhaling the fumes.

Bookcase of the ex

If you have a bookshelf you aren't using anymore, or manage to pick one up for cheap, try turning it into a stunning cabinet simply by adding doors.

You can make your own using plywood and fancy handles or knobs – then paint or stain the unit for a luxurious finish.
