Anti-fashion denizen Vetements has announced Guram Gvasalia as its new creative director. The new appointment now makes co-founder Gvasalia both the CEO and creative director of the Zürich-based brand.

“Everything has its time. It is time for me to come out,” said Gvasalia in a release. “From AH22-23, I took over the brand and decided to step in as Creative Director of the house.” Inspired by affluence and aristocracy in the bourgeoning age of cryptocurrency, Vetement’s FW22 collection was the first collection under Gvasalia’s belt as creative director, illustrated by oversized, yet tailored silhouettes.

“Vetements since day one is built on creativity. And I want to make sure that all the young people out there know…You can change your life with your own creativity and passion,” said Gvasalia. “The truth is – creativity is a part of human nature. We all have it.” With this new appointment, Gvasalia conveyed that he’s been refining his design and technical skills for the past two years.

With Gvasalia seizing control of both Vetements’ business and creative elements, the brand is sure to head in a suprisingly new direction.
