New Balance is motivated to insert a few more collaborative releases before 2021 officially concludes, and after revealing a whimsical collection with Filipino-American artist Louis De Guzman, the sportswear brand is now joining forces with LeBron James‘ agent Rich Paul for a special New Balance 550 and apparel collection. The launch is designed to inspire people to get after their dreams and strive to blaze their own path.
For this team-up, the KLUTCH Sports Group founder reworked the classic hoops-turned-lifestyle silhouette with an elegant makeover. Uppers are still predominantly engineered with a sail-like tone, but they have been modified with perforated leather toe boxes, quarter panels and collars. A creamy coating is applied to the “N” logos, while notes of darker navy get brought onto the pebbled leather collar overlays, tongue trimming, various New Balance branding and footbeds. Paul’s full moniker adorns both tongues and his initials arrive on the right shoe’s insole. Baby blue accents also poke out here on the tongues, as well on the lower parts of the midsoles and treading. Moreover, the kicks come packaged in a special co-branded box.
Releasing alongside the shoes is a full range of matching apparel. Both parties have readied two matching track suits, tees and mesh shorts, all of which are styled with identical, navy, baby blue and creamy color schemes.
“Growing up, we always had an affinity for fashion but had very limited resources to express ourselves, and few examples of what success could look like off the court,” said Paul. “When New Balance approached me about a collaboration, more than anything, I wanted to create something to inspire and empower young people coming up behind us – for boys and girls with creativity, passion and fearless determination to stay true to themselves.”
The products will be available via New Balance and KLUTCH on December 10. Prices will range from $40 USD for the graphic tee to $140 USD for the 550s.
In other news, the New Balance 327 just released in a “Winter Athletics” colorway.
