Fumito Ganryu‘s return to fashion has been marked by a kind of quiet resilience, as the former COMME des GARÇONS creative’s eponymous label delves into experimental textiles and effortless shapes that the designer himself prefers to wear. Jackets feature removable collars that can be traded between each other, encouraging personalization, with cuts that encourage dynamic layering. Recycled plastics inform the oversized puffer coats layered atop, while the sweaters and hybrid shirts below feature billowing sleeves and pockets deep enough to store any daily essential. Other Japanese designers presenting Fall/Winter 2021 collections include Yohji Yamamoto, JIEDA, KIDILL and Homme Plissé Issey Miyake.
