After releasing a free one-shot chapter at the start of 2020, Shueisha Jump Comics is now set to release the first new manga volume of Death Note in 14 years.

Titled Death Note: Short Stories, the upcoming printing features original collected non-reprint material from author Tsugumi Ohba’s hit series with illustration from collaborator Takeshi Obata. The bulk of the 226-page volume is a one-shot story centered around Minoru Tanaka, a genius junior high school student chosen by Shinigami Ryuk to try and shape the world in his way with the Death Note. Accompanying self-contained one-shot chapters come from 2003-2020 and yon-koma (four-panel) manga strips, along with a chapter with Kira that was included only in the March 2020 edition of manga anthology Jump Square.

Artist Takeshi Obata also provided a new illustration for the cover that shows Ryuk hovering over Minoru with a bright and shiny red apple falling into his hand.

Priced at ¥540 JPY (approximately $5.20 USD), Death Note: Short Stories is now available for pre-order on Amazon Japan with an official release set for February 4, 2021.
