Quilted liner jackets had a moment in 2020, and thanks to Converse the style is going nowhere. Released today, Converse has introduced quilted nylon to its iconic Chuck 70 Hi, delivering two pairs in “Black/Limestone Grey” and “Field Surplus/Amber Sepia.”

The Spring/Summer 2021 styles feature all of the usual Converse design tropes, sporting a rubber toe cap in “Egret” alongside a complementing midsole that’s intersected with a black stripe on both pairs, leading to the black license plate at the rear. Furthermore, both colorways are finished with a white and black leather roundel that displays the signature Converse All Star branding.

The “Black/Limestone Grey” colorway is comprised of black quilted nylon and grey piping, trimming areas such as the shoe opening cuff, tongue and eyestay placket details, the rubber stripe that splits the upper from the sole, and the webbing stripe down the rear of the sneaker. Black and grey rope laces weave through metallic silver eyelets, adding a tactile and technical look to the shoe.

This color scheme is replicated on the other pair, only now the grey details appear in an orange-toned “Amber Sepia” hue. It contrasts the khaki green “Field Surplus” quilted nylon upper, coming together for a traditional military colorway that’s more reminiscent of original liner jackets.
