Rose Ayling-Ellis is now the favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing following her and Giovanni Pernice's incredible tribute to the deaf community at the weekend.

EastEnders star Rose, 26, and professional dancer Giovanni, 31, wowed fans with their emotional performance on Saturday 13 November's show.

In the middle of their performance, the music stopped as soap star Rose covered the Italian dancer's ears and the pair continued their routine.

The spellbinding performance received huge praise from the show's judges.

Anton du Beke fought back tears as he told the pair: "That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on the show. Congratulations."

While Shirley Ballas added: "I’m sure the deaf community will be so proud of you. This is a number that will be etched in my heart for a long time, it was absolutely beautiful."

And Giovanni told Rose he "loved" her before they received a near-perfect score of 39 out of 40 from the judges.

After the performance Rose and Giovanni shared their excitement as the soap actress said: "That was really good and it was so lovely to show my story."


Giovanni added: "Thank you for putting me in your story." To which Rose responded: "And thank you for introducing me to the dance world!"

And Strictly Come Dancing viewers were then reduced to tears over the touching insight into what it's like to be deaf.

One said: "OMG! That was so emotional. You should be very proud of yourself @RoseAylingEllis".

Another urged: "#Strictly They HAVE to win! Vote people, vote! Absolutely stunning dance and brilliant song choice. Love them!"

While a third added: "We are just all sitting in front of our TVs, wailing now!! Unmissable" followed by a heart emoji.

And a fourth wrote: "I can’t think what was more emotional ..Rose telling her story with such positivity or seeing Giovanni melt".

Following a string of breathtaking performances throughout the series, Rose and Giovanni are the favourites to get their hands on the Glitterball trophy.

Following the incredible performance, Rose posted a series of photos from her performance on her Instagram page.

She then wrote in the caption: "@pernicegiovann1 I am so grateful that you created this magical for me to show the world the joy of being deaf".
