Mel B raised eyebrows during filming for Adele’s An Audience With special as she reportedly made a sex toy joke that was edited out of the broadcast.

The Spice Girls star, 46, was one of several celebrities in attendance at the event and was said to have made an off-colour joke when she stepped up to the microphone to ask Adele a question, following on from a host of other stars grilling  the singer.

On the shocking moment that failed to make it to air, a source told The Sun: ‘She was tasked with asking a question about the best gift Adele had ever received but when the cameras were on her she said she felt silly asking it…

‘Then she made a joke and said she could answer the question for Adele and said it was a vibrator. No one really laughed but Adele made a wise crack about it and moved on.

‘There’s no bad blood or issue between them, ITV just couldn’t air it because not only was it awkward as hell – it was a family show and there would be kids watching.’

Representatives for Mel B and ITV declined to comment when approached by MailOnline about the moment in question.

Away from the non-aired clip, a more successful moment came when Adele told Samuel L. Jackson, 72, how she once avoided getting a traffic ticket in Los Angeles thanks to her ‘Adelity’ celebrity status and influence.

Adele insisted: ‘I was ready to go to jail!’ before revealing that the wife of the police officer who pulled her over, screamed at him down the phone which resulted in the Someone Like You hitmaker being let off.

Standing up in the audience, Samuel asked the superstar singer if she’d ever used her ‘Adelity’ – Adele celebrity status – to get out of a ticket or ‘any other precarious situation.’

‘Well one time on the 401, Samuel L. Jackson. When I first moved to LA – which by the way was never meant to be as long as it is – when I first moved there…

‘I’d never really driven there, and I was in the fast lane, in the far left lane, not going that fast. There was quite a lot of traffic, and I was in a rental and the windows were tinted a bit too dark but I didn’t know that.

‘Anyway, I was minding my own business and then suddenly a police car pulls up behind me and is basically hinting that I need to pull over so I just stopped where I was — I’d never been pulled over in my life.’

Adele’s TV special was a ratings winner for the channel and alongside the I’m A Celebrity launch, which aired directly after the show, the special helped catapult ITV to its biggest Sunday of the entire year.

An Audience With Adele accrued a peak of 5.4million viewers, the third highest rated show of the night – with each show scoring 1m streams as of Monday.
