Kimberley Walsh has emotionally revealed that she watches videos of her late former bandmate Sarah Harding to help deal with her grief.

Sarah tragically passed away last September at the age of 39 after a year long battle with breast cancer.

Kimberley, 40, and the remaining members of Girls Aloud – Cheryl, 39, Nicola Roberts, 36, and Nadine Coyle, 37 – have since planned fundraisers in Sarah's honour, running a special Race For Life in her memory in July.

They have also announced they will host an industry gala, named Sarah's Primrose Ball after her iconic line in their single The Promise.

Opening up on her grief for Sarah in an exclusive interview with OK!, the singer said: "It can take me at any moment. There can be triggers everywhere.

"It’s only been a year, so to us it still feels quite raw to be honest.

"The best thing for me is having the other three girls that I know feel the same. We’re just helping each other through it.

"Sarah had a wish to fund research that her doctor was working on, so we said we’d do everything in our power to make that happen.

"We’re throwing a fundraising event which is going to be an emotional night. That’s taking all our focus."

Discussing how she remembers Sarah a year after her death, Kimberley said: "I watch videos of her on stage.

"There was nobody more alive than her when she was in her element."

Kimberley also revealed how she has been more conscious of her own health since the loss of Sarah.

"It makes you more worried but it’s never a bad thing if someone encourages you to keep on top of that," she said.

"I’ve had lots of women message me on Instagram saying Sarah helped them catch [their cancer] early, which I know would have meant a lot to her. She has definitely saved lives."
