Justin Bieber, 29, was one of the first to publicly defend Frank Ocean’s controversial Coachella performance on Sunday night.
The Baby singer took to Instagram with a snap of Frank on the big screen at the festival saying he “was blown away by Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance”.
Justin gushed over the singer adding: “His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail.. I was deeply moved.
“It made me want to keep going and get better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and gave me a night I will never forget! Thanks Frank.” (sic)
However, a TikTok clip quickly went viral apparently showing Justin sleeping through the set that he claimed had such a big impact on him.

The quick video, posted by pineappleonpisa shows Justin sitting a few rows ahead of the camera, with his eyes closed and head titled downwards as the crowd wooed over Frank’s sultry vocals.
The user had written over the top of the video: “Not Justin Bieber asleep at the Frank set,” followed by a string of crying emojis.
They captioned the clip, which now has over 600,000 views: “Six yrs but it’s past his bedtime #coachella #frankchella #teamselena #fyp,” alluding to the fact that his Coachella show marked Frank’s first performance in six years.
While some were quick to add an extra joke at Justin’s expense, with a few insinuating the singer is a robot and just had a “software shutdown”, others claimed he was not sleeping at all.

In the TikTok comments, one fan questioned: “You never closed your eyes soaking in the music?”
While another wrote: “If you close your eyes at concert it’s the best feeling ever you really feel the music and the energy.”
Some also theorised he was “just praying” as Frank mentioned his late brother, Ryan Breaux, who died at the age of 18 in 2020.
The Lost singer was initially set to headline the festival in 2020 but was halted by the pandemic.
His much-anticipated arrival on the Coachella stage was overshadowed however by the controversy surrounding his first live show since the summer of 2017.
The singer sparked a wave of outrage through his fanbase as he arrived on stage an hour late and the performance was also cut short by the festival organisers.
TMZ reported that Frank’s set was severely disrupted as he had experienced an injury off stage, hurting his ankle while on the bicycle he was using to get around the massive Coachella venue.
The outlet claimed that Frank’s original set had an ice skating rink with over 100 hired hockey players to perform for the audience, but the entire concept had to be scrapped.
Fans across the world, however, were left far more disappointed by the fact that his show was pulled from Coachella’s live-streaming schedule on YouTube just hours before his set.
