Host of his own Saturday Morning show James Martin, 48, confessed this morning on his cooking show that he’s “frightened” of ITV’s Loose Women. Speaking to one of the daytime show’s favourite presenters, Brenda Edwards, 52, the chef revealed that despite having a successful TV career spanning nearly 30 years, he has only appeared on the show less than a handful of times.

Speaking to the Loose Women star, he gushed as he told her how brilliant he thought Loose Women is.

He said: “It’s an amazing show to be involved in.”

However, the chef went on to reveal that he’s terrified of the show’s panel.

“To be honest, I’ve been involved in TV for 28 years and it’s the only show I’m frightened of,” he candidly admitted.

Brenda burst out laughing before insisting: “We’re harmless!”

“Come on, come on!” James scoffed.

Composing herself, Brenda took the opportunity to bring up the subject of her award-winning show.

“Look, I mean, can I just mention that we won the RTS (Royal Television Society) award for best daytime show,” she said before clapping her hands.

Later in the cooking show, the chef bought up Loose Women again and joked that he excuses himself when asked to appear.

“This is why I turned around and said, ‘Can I ask what date you want me to go on Loose Women and by the way I might be busy that day because you could end up doing this,'” he said.

The programme switched to show Brenda leading an exercise class with Loose Women’s Judi Love and Charlene White struggling to keep up the pace.

As the star encouraged her co-stars to throw punches, Charlene looked less than impressed with the impromptu fitness class.

Following an appearance on the ITV daytime show two years ago, viewers of the show flocked to social media where they accused the panel of “fat shaming” the chef.

The show saw Ruth Langsford, Janet Street Porter, Coleen Nolan and Brenda ask the chef some questions which some viewers found uncomfortable.

They presenters even asked James if his mother had expressed concern about his weight at any point.

Joking the subject off, James said: ““Weight is quite a big issue.”

“Now she’s got a big TV. It never used to be a problem when she had a little TV”, he joked.

The chef continued: “It’s all relative. HD is horrific.

“I’ve never been a little lad. I’m 6ft 4in and 18 stone,” he stated.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning is on ITV at 9.25am on Saturdays.
