Game of Thrones and EastEnders actor dead at 36: Darren Kent passes away following long health battle as his friends pay tribute
Darren Kent passed away last Friday following a long health battle at the age of 36, surrounded by his family and best friend.
The Essex-born actor was famous for his roles in hit series Game Of Thrones, where he played a Goatherd from Slavers Bay, EastEnders and Snow White and the Huntsman.
He has worked alongside Hollywood stars such as Kiefer Sutherland, Dominic West and Sean Bean.
He won the Best Actor Award at the Van D’or Awards for his role in Sunnyboy and has also worked as a director.
However, Darren also battled with osteoporosis, arthritis and an extremely rare skin disorder in his early career.

He was a patron of Equal People Performing Arts, which supports disabled, non-disabled and disadvantaged people to enjoy the power of performing arts.
His friends and fans have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes to the star and praised his talent.
Darren’s agency Carey Dodd Associates announced his death on Twitter, writing: ‘It is with deep sadness we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday.
‘His parents and best friend by his side. Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. RIP my friend’.
TV and theatre star Lee Mead – who starred in Darren’s film Mein Freund – also voiced his sadness at the news.
He wrote: ‘Darren was an amazing human being and so special. Always giving of his time to people and always so positive.
‘A fine actor too and he achieved so much as well. Such heartbreaking news’.
Fellow director Jane Gull penned: ‘What a privilege it was to be your friend and to work together on so many projects over the years. Life won’t be the same without you I will miss you so much. RIP darling Darren Kent xxxx’.

While screenwriter Ben Trebilcook said: ‘Love and thoughts to the friends and family of our talented, caring soul of a friend, Darren Kent, who sadly passed away on Friday.
‘Darren, an Essex writer, actor and director, directed our award winning short You Know Me. A true character who was Always creating and forever upbeat and encouraging, Darren will be sorely missed.’
The Mushroom Theatre Company shared a photo of Darren and wrote: ‘So very very sad to hear about the passing of our patron @darrenpaulkent Our thoughts are with his family & friends at this difficult time’.
Founder Penni Bubb added: ‘Darren was a very supportive, generous and lovely man.
‘He thoroughly enjoyed spending his time with us and performing for our students – especially when he used to sing for them!
‘We are going to miss our much-loved patron so much, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terribly sad time.’
Darren’s first roles came in Shameless in 2004, while his big break was in Mirrors in 2008 after his studies at Italia Conti stage school in London had finished.
His mother and agency released an obituary that read: ‘His indomitable spirit and love of life inspired all he met and he will be remembered not only for his talent, but as a warm and generous friend.’
