We’re all counting down the days to Christmas, and the kids can’t wait. We had an amazing time at LaplandUK, and the kids gave their letters to actual Father Christmas. It was so magical. Their gift lists are actually rather long. Theo’s was a whole page and Millie’s was two pages long! But after a conversation, they now understand that they won’t be getting everything on their lists. I think it’s important to manage their expectations. We never want to spoil them too much.

With Pete, I really struggled with what to get him. He couldn’t tell me a single thing he wanted. He’s officially the hardest man in the world to buy for! I’ve just got him some bits like pyjamas and new coffee cups.

I had no idea what to ask him for either. I’ve never had AirPods so I mentioned them, but they’re expensive so I’m not sure if he will get them, and I don’t like asking for expensive things! Pete also suggested a replacement Apple Watch as I lost mine while trying on dresses for Pride of Britain.

I took it off so I didn’t snag any of the dresses and ended up losing it somewhere in my bedroom! I’ve been wearing his old one in the meantime, but I told him there’s no point in him getting me one as I can just get it on my phone contract and pick the size and strap colour myself.

Whatever he gets me, I know I’ll love it, as it’s always the thought that counts to me at Christmas.

Dreams Achieved

We’ve had some really good times in 2021, even though it’s been another weird year in lots of ways. I think a real high for me was getting my book, Growing Up For Girls, published. It was a dream of mine and I feel very proud of myself for achieving it. Theo starting school was another big thing for me.

All the kids went through some form of transition in September, so there was a lot of change to deal with. Junior started college, while Millie moved up to juniors and Princess started her GCSEs. It’s been really nice seeing the kids flourishing and growing up, and I’m really proud of them all for how they’ve dealt with everything.

Ringing In 2022

We’re still not sure what we’re doing for New Year’s Eve as we don’t know what the Covid restrictions will be. We’re hoping to do something as a family and go away, but it’s just so tricky with the travel rules, so everything is a bit up in the air.

Regardless, we’ll be together as a family, and if we’re at home then we’ll make sure we go and see some fireworks and do something fun. As always, whatever we do will be arranged at the last minute. Some things never change!
