Emeli Sandé has come out and revealed she has fallen for a female pianist.

The 35 year old singer shared her amazing news and gushed she felt "happier than ever" as she found an incredible new love eight years after getting divorced.

The Scottish star, who has recently undergone a fabulous new makeover and ditched her signature platinum short locks, told how her new partner, whom she hasn't named, is "the one for life".

She met her new girlfriend while studying classical music alongside her. "We met through music. And I definitely feel happier than ever. "It feels great," Emeli told Metro.

Emeli and her ex husband, marine biologist Adam Gouraguine were in a relationship for more than a decade before tying the knot in 2012.

Two years later, the star confirmed they had gotten divorced.

Emeli went on to tell the publication that having "true love" in her life is like the final piece in a jigsaw puzzle and makes everything else fit into place too.

After nearly a decade of being mostly single, the singer revealed that she finally feels "very fulfilled".

She also explained it can be really "difficult" not having someone to support you through your life and career.

"I’ll always love music and I love my career but now it just feels that despite what happens, I can just enjoy life and be really happy," the star added.

Emeli shared her personal news following big developments in her music career, too.

Emeli unveiled the music video for her brand new song There Isn't Much, which she debuted on YouTube.

The video features a group of female dancers whom she drafted in from the LGBTQI community. But even so, she's unsure about putting a label on her own sexuality after identifying as straight for her whole life up until this point.

The pop star insisted she feels like she is able to "fall in love with whoever I fall in love with".

Emeli previously revealed how tough it was to split from her childhood boyfriend after a decade in each other's lives.

She also said it was like losing her "best friend".
