Chris Evans, 54, opened up about his commuting woes to the Virgin Radio Breakfast Studios today. The presenter admitted he had been caught going over the speed limit but was unsure how “fast” he had been travelling at the time.

This comes after the Virgin Radio host previously revealed that he had been caught speeding in a 20mph zone earlier this year.

Chris has since addressed the moment as he fumed at the constant speed limit changes within a 30-mile journey.

The presenter attempted to recall the first occasion he had been caught as he explained he had “panicked”.

“We’ve got to speak about speed cameras,” Chris told listeners. “I’ve been done again for speeding into work.”

“I don’t know how many miles-per-hour and I thought I was doing maybe 23 or 24mph in a new 20mph zone.”

Chris continued: “Lambeth Bridge was closed and it was a new 20 [mph zone] and I wasn’t used to it.

“Listen, I’m guilty as charged. No question about that.

“It happened on the way into work on the M4 into the A4 coming over the flyover.”

He explained that the incident took place on January 5 in the early hours of the morning.

“Maybe my flask had rolled off of the passenger seat and panicked me,” the radio host commented.

“Maybe I was distracted. I don’t know how fast I was going. We’ll find out.

“I just don’t do that [speeding] otherwise you would lose your license immediately. I’ve been on loads of speed awareness courses.”

Chris added that he wanted to do the “right thing” but it’s “becoming increasingly impossible”.

He concluded: “You could lose your driver’s license in one 32mph commute easily and you don’t mean to do anything wrong.”

Back in February, the Virgin Radio host opened up about his “dilemma” with unintentionally speeding.

While introducing what was coming up on the show, Chris told listeners: “I’ve just been done for speeding in a 20[mph] again.

“Twenty-three miles per hour, I think you should be given one chance with a 20 mile [per hour] because they’re new round here.

“You know, I didn’t even know the [cameras] were there.”

Chris continued: “I wasn’t trying to slow down because it was in a 20, I just realised I was 23 in a 30, and now I’m going to get three points.”

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
