Angela Rippon, 79, reveals she lost a stone with her gruelling Strictly Come Dancing regime as she shows off THAT high kick on Loose Women

Angela Rippon lost a stone in weight during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 79-year-old broadcaster appeared on Friday’s Loose Women, where she spoke to panellists Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Adams and Gloria Hunniford about her time on Strictly in her first TV interview since leaving the show last month.

Angela – who was paired with pro dancer Kai Widdrington – said of life post-Strictly: ‘I have got stronger, my asthma has improved incredibly because obviously my lung function is better and I’ve lost a stone in weight.

‘I just loved doing it and although it was a bit like going to a bootcamp because of the exercise you’re having to do, I just enjoyed every minute of it.’

This led to Angela’s friend Gloria commenting: ‘I’ve decided Angela is made of titanium… and that’s the strength for sure!’

The TV journalist admitted she did have to have her whole shoulder replaced three and a half years ago, joking: ‘Gloria knows I am titanium because I had arthritis in my shoulder three and a half years ago now and I had to have my whole shoulder replaced.

‘So that’s a prosthetic that I’ve got there but it worked beautifully, it does now. So I am titanium!’

Angela’s legs have been famous for years now after she did an astonishing high kick on the Morecambe & Wise Show back in 1976.

The broadcasting legend recreated that kick on this year’s Strictly, before doing it again on Loose Women.

Angela then joked with the panel, ‘No, you can’t have the shoes!’

Elsewhere during the chat, the TV journalist opened up about where she gets her energy from at 79.

She said: ‘I think I was just born with it! I loved doing [Strictly] and the thing that I discovered was that I never once, because we were doing six hours a day, I never once got to the point where muscles gave up on me.’

Angela also dished on any plans she’s making for her 80th birthday next year, telling the panel how she’s never been to Las Vegas, so she’s hoping to head there and to Palm Springs.

The TV journalist showcased her incredible flexibility as she stretched her leg over her head during her time dancing with Kai Widdrington on the BBC dance show

During Angela’s time on Strictly, viewers were amazed by her incredible flexibility before she became the eighth star to be eliminated from the show during Blackpool Week.

The star made history as the show’s oldest ever contestant and proved she’s still got the moves.

After watching her Cha Cha to Shirley Bassey’s cover of Pink’s Get The Party Started, one viewer posted: ‘I need some tips off Angela Rippon. I’d love to dance like she does and I’m literally half her age!’

Others wrote:  ‘Angela Rippon’s leg though!’; ‘When I grow up I want to be Angela Rippon’; ‘I want Angela Rippon’s legs!’
