A stunning island off the coast of Cornwall is paying people to live there – in return for some cooking and cleaning.

Many of us will have dreamed of escaping to a tropical island over the course of the last year, and this could be your chance to make it a reality.

Tresco, located in the Isles of Scilly, is looking to hire a people to work on the paradise island this year – and as well as full pay, your accommodation will also be included.

Roles that are up for grabs include chefs, cleaners and front of house staff.

The recruitment drive comes as the island expects an influx of British tourists this year.

Nick Halliday, CEO of Tresco Estate, said guests can expect: ‘chalet hosting at a ski resort but swap the snow for lush golden sand and a subtropical climate.

‘Everyone has fantasised about fleeing to a remote island and escaping the hustle and bustle of normal life.

‘With varied island jobs to choose from, now is the chance to turn that dream into a reality.’

Travel to and from the island is included in the job expenses, as well as restaurant and shop discounts and cheaper stays for friends and family who visit the island.

The island, which is just two and a half miles long, is run by the Dorrien-Smith family and is the second largest of the Scilly Islands, and one of the only ones that is privately-owned – there are just 150 people living on the island.

Now you won’t exactly get tropical heat, but the island does have a mild climate all year round, so you can expect nice weather even later into the year.

Appletree Bay beach has white sands similar to the Caribbean, so you will have plenty of fodder for your Insta feed.

Top attractions include the famous Tresco Abbey Garden with more than 20,000 exotic plants and salvaged shipwreck figureheads on display.

The island is also a firm favourite with the royals, with Prince William and Kate Middleton visiting for a family holiday last year, and Princess Diana and Charles also hopped to Tresco for a break in 1989.

Boats to Tresco run twice a day from St Mary’s and Bryher, or twice a week from St Martin’s and St Agnes.

If you’re looking for an escape, or a summer on the beach – you should probably start getting your CV in shape.
