A PASSENGER has slammed United Airlines after her fiancée was kicked out of his seat so a flight attendant could use it instead.

Danielle Schwab was on a flight to Chicago from London with her partner when the pair were separated by the flight crew.

The couple were sat in first class, having just got engaged on their trip, when husband-to-be, Mikey, was shifted to a lower class.

Danielle was so shocked at what happened, she recorded a video to share on Tiktok, where she posts as @watergirl8296, to let others know what had happened.

In the video, she said: "We are on a United Airlines flight going from Heathrow to Chicago, and we booked these seats. We're in first class. We booked these seats fair and square.

"All of a sudden, my fiancee just got moved to coach. They bumped him because they wanted a flight attendant or a part of the crew, to sit in first class instead.

"I understand that the crew works really hard. However, we booked these seats ahead of time, and this is not fair.

"This is not customer service. I'm sorry. It's just not customer service. This is ridiculous. So mad."

In a follow up video, Danielle further explained that her husband-to-be was kicked out of his seat because the flight crew's sleeping area was inaccessible on that flight due to a problem.

Therefore, first class seats had to be made available for the flight attendants, so they could rest and have a suitable break space during their shifts.

Her partner was one of the unfortunate people who got bumped down to a different seat to make way.

She continued: "Flight attendants take turns taking naps on the back of the plane. There's usually bunks or seats that go out into a bed.

"If the seat's not working, from what I understand, seats need to open up."

Her footage has since been seen more than seven million times, with other people equally as furious on their behalf.

One wrote: "This is unacceptable and you need to be compensated! Don’t give up!"

Another said: "There’s no way I’m paying for first class which can range up to thousands! And then get booted to economy. No way in hell."

Even a flight attendant admitted the airline should have handled matters in a different way.

They added: "F/A here! FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) requires us to have a break and a 'rest area' that’s not a jumpseat. They should have called maintenance and/or changed planes."

United explained that Mikey had been moved to Premium Plus seats, rather than economy, but said they would be refunding the price difference and offering compensation.

The airline told Mail Online: "The seats we normally reserve for crew members to take their required rest breaks weren't working on this flight, so we unfortunately had to reassign two customers to Premium Plus rather than cancel the flight.

"We understand the customer's frustration and are refunding the price difference for their seats and giving them each a $1,500 (£,1200) certificate for future travel."

Sun Online Travel has contacted United Airlines for comment.
