Tolkien fans will know that there’s a new Lord of the Rings series coming very soon, with a new story set on Middle Earth.

It’s all still in its early days, but it’s a big win for avid readers (and watchers) of the franchise.

Although we can’t all celebrate by eschewing our former lives and living like the hobbits, you can get a taste of it in this holiday cottage in the Rother Valley in East Sussex.

This luxury hobbit hole nestled in the middle of a vineyard and a short walk from Bodiam Castle features the round windows and doors Frodo and the gang favoured.

With its vaulted ceilings, cosy woodburner, and picturesque backdrop, guests can stay in a property that wouldn’t look out of place next to Bilbo’s abode in the Shire.

The property is ideal for couples or a larger family, with two bedrooms and plenty of living space for little ones.

There is also a hot tub, patio and garden furniture, plus use of the owner’s tennis court.

You could even go nuts and make use of the Smart TV in the living room to rewatch the original Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. Or, even better, plan a trip for the premier of the new series to watch it in the hobbit hole.

As for the local area, it’s a mile to the local pub (not sure if they do mead in true Hobbiton style) and you can head to local attractions like a steam railway and a fishery.

If you’re keen on a beach, Hasting and Rye are around 40 minutes drive away.

It’s ready to rent now, with prices for the next available one-night stay coming in at £890. A seven-night stay in March 2022 is £1,787, while a three-night weekend stay is £1,350.

Check it out here.
