A MUM has shared the odd reason her partner doesn't want to take their child to Walt Disney World – and people are divided.

She explained on Mumsnet that she and her husband are torn between where to go on holiday this year.

While the mum wanted to take their nine-year-old to Walt Disney World, her other half wanted to go somewhere more "educational" and less "tacky".

She wrote: "I want to go and experience it [Walt Disney World] with my child, but my other half thinks I'm being silly and would rather go somewhere educational and less tacky.

"My child is nine and I feel like they'd probably enjoy Disney World more than an educational holiday, but I do understand why my partner wants to spend their money elsewhere.

"We're looking at Galapagos, or further afield, because my partner thinks this is so much better.

"I clearly fall under his version of tacky because I still want to go to Walt Disney World.

"We have the same budget for both, but my partner thinks it's better to put the budget on a more educational holiday as he feels it's 'wasted' on Disney."

Most people thought a holiday to Disney was the better option.

One person wrote: "Go to Disney, you'll learn more about the Galapagos Islands on Discovery Channel."

While another person said: "Why wouldn't you want to take your kids somewhere they can escape reality for a little bit?

"Have a little fun and relax – even if it's not Disney, why do you have to have an educational holiday?"

A third added: "Definitely Disney for a 9-year-old, there are plenty of other things to do nearby that are educational too like the Kennedy Space Center, hot air balloons, and helicopter rides."

But others weren't swayed by the magic of Mickey and a trip to Disney.

One wrote: "No question, it has to be the Galapagos. What an amazing trip – I would've loved that as a kid."

Someone else said: "We were quite disappointed with the whole Disney experience as a family because of the queues, the price and the food.

"Our kids preferred adventure sports and activities that we did in places like Iceland and Jordan."

This isn't the first time a family holiday has divided opinions online, with one mum refusing to go on holiday with her family because she was afraid of disturbing her child's nap routine.

Meanwhile, another mum divided opinion when she revealed why she hates going on holiday.
