NATIONAL Geographic has revealed the best family holiday destinations, and two in the UK have surprisngly made the list.

Both Bath and Manchester are in the top seven listed by National Geographic as their "seven destinations for family journeys in 2023".


Joined by destinations such as San Francisco and Switzerland, each one was praised for their new attractions.

National Geographic stated: "From epic landscapes and cultural reawakenings to conservation initiatives and family favourites, National Geographic Traveller’s Best of the World list is back with the destinations that should be on your radar for 2023."

Coming in fourth was Manchester cited a "mecca for footbal fans"as well as an "arts and culture club".

Citing its "post-pandemic revival" the city's new £186million space Factory International features the newest in theatre, opera and music.

Also new in the city is the Manchester Museum, as well as its National Trust’s new ‘sky park’ on the Castlefield Viaduct, a walkable Victorian-era railroad bridge.

And coming in sixth was Bath, which is the only double-listed World Heritage Site in the UK.

The newly opened Bath World Heritage Centre is great for kids to learn about the history of the city, while Cleveland Pools, the oldest lido in the UK, is to open fully to the public next year.

Other destinations highly rated by National Geographic included Wicklow in Ireland, thanks to it's multi-million poundtreetop walk, and Trinidad and Tobago, being one of the miost important leatherback turtle nesting sites in the world.

And the Scottish Highlands were included on National Geographic's best nature escapes for 2023.

They praised it's 'rewilding' process to reintroduce former flora and fauna following so much human interferance with wildlife.
