Wrangler was on the Westernwear train long before Greta Gerwig’s Barbie donned a cowboy hat, rodeo jeans and a hot pink denim vest in an unsuccessful attempt to fit in the real world. Now, the iconic clothing brand is leaning into Barbie Cowgirl with a brand new collection inspired by the blockbuster Mattel doll.
The Wrangler x Barbie collection, titled “Dreaming in Denim,” went live on the Wrangler website on Wednesday morning. The limited-edition capsule features an assortment of mix-and-match pieces for women and girls, including the denim brand’s perfected bootcut jean and first Wrancher dress in a vibrant Barbie pink. The collection also includes casual staples like crewneck sweatshirts and white tees, alongside statement pieces like a hot pink fringed wrancher jacket and funky bandana hat.
As they’re known for doing, Wrangler reimagined their expansive brand archives in the newest collection to pay homage to Barbie, who, as they remind us, was a horse owner herself beginning in the 1970s. Oh, the many lives of Barbie.
“Particularly through the remarkable expansion of its female product categories over the years, Wrangler has earned a unique position in women’s fashion, offering western style that transcends lifestyles, occupations, economic backgrounds, genres, geographies and generations,” Jenni Broyles, senior vice president at Wrangler, said in a statement. “Barbie has become a permanent and cultural symbol of empowerment, and with this collection we aim to encourage individuals from all walks of life to embrace their unique identities and make a statement that echoes across time.”
The collection follows a string of entertainment-inspired capsules from Wrangler, including this Leon Bridges collection and Yellowstone collection earlier this year.
