Shoes have the ability to make or break an entire outfit, but occasionally a brand comes up with a concept that shakes what we thought we knew about it all.

From ASOS' 'builders bum' thong style jeans to Zara's questionable flower bag, we thought we'd seen everything but Singaporean retailer Charles & Keith has definitely proved us wrong.

The fast-fashion brand has released a new sock boot called Lucile Platform Calf Boots and it is a sight to behold as the leather shoes feature both 9cm platform heels as well as a matching detachable sock to go with it.

It means shoppers can either wear the set together to make a statement, or simply sport the platform heels on their own – bringing a little versatility to your wardrobe.

Coming in blue, black, and white, the set is described as "edgy" and sells for £79, but it currently on sale for £71.10 here.

While they do appear to be a bit like marmite where you'll either love or hate them, the website has almost completely sold out on all three colours of the boots. Only sizes 2 and 3 are available in black, while only size 2 is available in the remaining two colours.

The description for the products reads: "Take edgy to the next level with these calf boots. Whether it is the bright blue hue, the 9 cm platform heel, or the innovative strappy design, each element in our Lucile platform boots is a standout feature in its own right.

"But wait, that's not all, these boots can be separated and worn as sandals and socks, opening up new styling possibilities and transforming them into versatile transeasonal pieces.

"Slip into them to bring a little edge to your everyday outfits. For a contemporary finish, style them with a ruched dress and a structured bag."

This is not the first time a retailer has come out with a questionable sock boot as last month Zara also released leather sock-style sandals and shoppers were not amused.

Instagram account Awkward Zara shared the black socks and white sandals set on their Instagram feed and fans quickly took to the comments section to share their opinions.

One user replied with: “When you want to wear sandals but you haven’t had a pedi since the start of the pandemic.”

Whilst another followed with: “Hmmm how can I look more pale, and more cankley, and make my legs look shorter all at the same time?”

As a third said: “Omg Zara you've gone too far!!!”
