A Portland stripper came up with an ingenious way to break the news to her parents that she is working in a pole dancing club – by creating a PowerPoint presentation all about her risque job.
The woman, known only as Lex, put together a ‘surprise’ virtual slideshow for her mother and father that detailed various aspects of her stripping work – from the ‘sex-positive’ environment at her club to the large sums of money she has been making through her job.
At the start of Lex’s presentation – which was recorded by her sister, Sami, and uploaded to TikTok – she is seen sitting her parents down in front of large screen that features a picture of her alongside the words ‘Today I reveal to you a secret’, before offering a few words of reassurance.
‘Open your eyes. Are you guys ready for this?’ she begins, reading off the first slide of the PowerPoint. ‘OK, now, before you start worrying or getting excited, this secret pertains to my life and affects no one else.

At this point, Lex’s mother and father appear completely clueless about the news that she is going to share – so she takes the opportunity to make a few points clear, before the big reveal.
‘What this secret does mean: I’m talented, I’m cool, I’m powerful,’ she says. ‘What this secret does not mean: I’m pregnant or in danger.’
Having laid the ground work for a positive reaction from her parents, Lex finally arrives at her next point, proudly announcing, ‘I’m a stripper!’ in a jovial tone – before clarifying: ‘As in I pole dance at a strip club and I love it!’
Barely pausing to give her mother and father a chance to think, Lex then dives into the ‘FAQs’ portion of the presentation, flicking to a wordy slide that contains a great deal of information about the ins and outs of her job.
‘First, you might be thinking, “Why? What’s the point?”‘ she tells her mom and dad. ‘Well, it’s a sex-positive environment and I can express myself safely. It’s a performance… theatrics, if you will.’
She then moves on to the risk factor of her job, while answering the question, ‘How am I staying safe?’
‘Well you see, there’s full anonymity in this club environment,’ Lex explains, before adding that the ‘culture of strip clubs in Portland is very much sex-positive and very safe’.
She adds: ‘There’s not like drugs or shady business practices that are common place.’
Her next frequently asked question tackles the issue of money, with the stripper joking about the fact that she has ‘been able to suspiciously afford stuff’ since starting the job, and telling her parents, ‘Yes… I make money doing that.’
On a more serious note, Lex assures her mother and father that she is not taking part in any other sex work, telling them that ‘all she does is dance and chat with people’ whenever she is working in the club.
‘Is it under-the-table income?’ the final FAQ poses – to which Lex responds: ‘No, I do pay my taxes!’
She concludes: ‘[It is] one of the funnest jobs I’ve ever had. And I don’t want you to worry and that why I have the FAQs. There’s no reason why I didn’t tell you, I just didn’t really get around to it.’

At the end of the presentation, the strip club worker offers her mother and father the chance to ask any additional questions – however instead of grilling their daughter, they simply offer some words of support.
‘I really appreciate you being forthright and sharing your life with us, and I’m glad you are powerful,’ Lex’s mother tells her, before reminding her daughter that she actually brought up stripping not too long before the presentation, saying: ‘Didn’t I say something about this?’
Although her father’s response was not included in the video, Lex posted a comment on the clip to reveal what he’d asked her when filming had ended: ‘For anyone wondering, my dad’s only questions was, “How much money you making?”
‘They’re seriously the best and earned the trust and respect we share.’
Video of Lex’s presentation quickly went viral on her sister’s TikTok account, where it has been viewed more than 2.4 million times, while racking up more than 4,900 comments – many of them expressing words of praise for the stripper and her supportive parents.
‘Your mom is so supportive OMFG,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘OMG and they didn’t even interrupt after the big reveal, I love them!’
Lex was also given her fair share of compliments, with many praising her ‘energy’ and her ‘informative’, ‘professional’ presentation.
