A COUPLE were left stunned when they found a secret feature hidden beneath their kitchen floor.

Emma Harrison, 28, and Rhys Stainer, 27, this month discovered their newly bought home held the treasure which had been covered up for over 100 years.

After lifting the tiles on their kitchen floor, they found an old water well – measuring more than 20 feet deep.

Emma and Rhys shared their home's new addition on TikTok, and the video quickly wracked up more than 5.3 million views and over 232,00 likes.

The couple estimated that the hidden well was built with the house in 1897, making it 125 years old.

Emma told NeedToKnow.co.uk: "We absolutely love period properties and this feature was a great find!"

"It [the well] had unfortunately been boarded over by the previous owners and wasn't on show, but you can pop up the floorboard.

"We assume from our research it was built at the same time as the house to provide the original house with a water supply.

"The house was built in 1897."

In the video posted online, you can see Rhys lifting the floorboard to reveal a hidden latch.

He then lifts the latch to uncover the 20-feed-deep well, which they measured by placing a mug on some string.

"It will make a great feature in the new kitchen.
