An American woman who lives in the UK has baffled Brits after making a cup of tea by boiling milk, water, two tea bags and sugar in a kettle before pouring it into a latte glass and adding more sugar.

TikTok user SWfinds, who often shares clips about mundane things in the UK that confuse her, racked up 1.3 million views with her ‘chaotic’ way of making tea.

In the clip, she begins by pouring full fat milk into a clear glass kettle.

Next, she adds a tablespoon of sugar and two tea bags and a splash of bottled water before boiling the kettle.

Once boiled ‘until creamy’ she pours the drink into a latte glass and adds even more sugar.

The clip quickly racked up thousands of comments with one joking: ‘My therapist is going to need a therapist after this one.’

‘Cries in British,’ one person added.

‘Thank you, you even traumatised my therapist, had to get a new one. Then you traumatised him too. Now I’m banned from therapy,’ joked another.

‘Cries River Thames,’ said a third.

‘I’m not British I’m Irish but I’m still offended,’ added another.

‘You realise this is a war crime right?’ one person wrote.

‘Kids are in bits thanks,’ joked one, while another wrote: ‘I wanna cry’.

‘Please dear god make this a joke,’ said one. While another commented:  ‘NATO article 5, an attack on 1 is an attack on all

‘That is not ok,’ added another.

‘THE WORST THING IVE SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE,’ commented a third.

Many said they were ‘unsure’ if the clip was satire or real as her account is dedicated to British things she doesn’t understand – including why eggs don’t go in the fridge,

Americans making offensively bad tea to troll British users has become a trend on TikTok in recent years.

In July, Nikki Moustaki, an author and freelance writer who lives between Miami Beach and New York City, horrified British people with her attempt to make tea – by boiling the tea leaves in the kettle with the water.

She bought a new electric kettle but was shocked when it overflowed as it reached boiling point.

She posted a video of the Chefman Electric Glass Kettle on TikTok, claiming it had a ‘major flaw’ as she showed tea flowing out of the spout, asking fellow users: ‘Why does it do this?’

However, horrified Britons on TikTok pointed out that the fault was with her because she was boiling the kettle with the loose tea infuser in it, causing tea to spill everywhere.

She then posted a series of videos charting her attempts to make tea properly, but further horrified people by using decaf teabags and heated coconut milk, which she poured into the cup first.

And in May 2020 a woman by the name of Michelle uploaded a TikTok video in which she broke down how she makes ‘hot tea’ using powdered instant tea mix, Tang orange drink mix, instant lemonade, sugar, and a couple of spices.

Her video has quickly wet viral, with many viewers — especially those in the UK — expressing dismay at her complicated, unconventional take on a drink.

While in December an American woman went viral on social media after revealing she recently ‘discovered’ kettles for the very first time.

Ju Tha Jeweller wrote: ‘So I finally converted to a (electric) kettle and this mf really boils water in 2 minutes. I had tea 3 times today.’

And she was quickly inundated with responses, including one from Kha Lynsai, who revealed that she had found out about the ‘godsend’ kitchen appliance just one year ago.

Kha explained that she spotted the kettle in Target after growing tired of warming water on the stove – and shared her excitement, while others offered ‘tips’ on how to use a kettle.

The exchange has left people in stitches, with many other Twitter users roasting them.

One person shared screenshots of the tweet with the caption: ‘Americans have found kettles.’
