George, Charlotte and Louis might be royalty, but they are children all the same.

And their parents, Prince and Princess of Wales, might be our future King and Queen, but they are parents first.

We had a rare glimpse of their family dynamic just two days after the Coronation, when William and Kate, along with their three children, visited the Upton Scout Group in Slough as they led the nation on a day of volunteering.

At many points during the day – which was Louis’s first outing – seven-year-old Princess Charlotte referred  to her mother Kate as ‘Mummy’ – a name William also uses to refer to his wife when talking to their little ones.

Prince Louis, five,  seems to call ‘Mama’. While Kate refers William as ‘Papa’ in front of the young royals.

However, not only do Kate and William have their own family names, but so do their children.

During the outing earlier this month, Kate was overheard calling her youngest son a very sweet nickname: ‘Lou Bug.’

While the Waleses were getting ready to toast marshmallows after their hard work was completed, Kate was heard telling her youngest, ‘Pop that in the fire, Lou Bugs.’

Elsewhere, she was heard lovingly praising her ‘poppet’s’ hard work as he put his best foot forward to help out with the arduous tasks at hand.

But Louis is not the only one who goes by a nickname in their family, and one, in particular, was given to her by her father, Prince William.

Charlotte’s sweet moniker was revealed in a video released by Kensington Palace on Instagram, showing the family-of-five at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.

While the three children are seen running around enjoying the outdoors – at one point William called out for his daughter, but instead of calling her Charlotte, he called out for ‘Mignonette’.

Mignonette is a French word which is said to mean ‘small, sweet, and delicate’ or ‘cute’.

The Princess of Wales opts for a simple yet classic nickname for her daughter, having previously been known to call her ‘Lottie’.
