Beauty in blue! Sophie Wessex is a vision in navy as she joins Prince Edward to pay tribute to NHS staff at Frimley Park on International Nursing Day

Sophie, Countess of Wessex looked a vision in blue today as she joined her husband Prince Edward to visit Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey to mark International Nursing Day.

The royal, 56, opted for a midi navy dress with a pretty pleated pattern and zip detailing for occasion.  

The couple were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Mr. Michael More-Molyneux and met with NHS staff and key workers at the hospital which is just four miles from their home Bagshot Park, where they live with their children Lady Louise Windsor, 17 and James, Viscount Severn, 13.

 The Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, 57, teamed pond green chinos with a powder blue shirt and tweed jacket for the day out

The mother-of-two kept her blonde locks loose and free and stayed Covid-safe with a disposable facemask.

Opting for a natural make-up look, Sophie teamed a gentle lick of black mascara with a light layer of foundation for the day out.

Sophie also sported gold tree of life earrings and an alligator skin style clutch bag for the day out.

Keeping warm from the British spring, Sophie later put on a grey coat and grabbed a blue and white striped umbrella to stay out of the rain.

It comes a day after Prince Charles, Edwad’s oldest brother, personally thanked staff who cared for his late father at St Barts Hospital before his death.

The Prince of Wales, 72, was on a visit to the historic hospital in the City of London yesterday when he got the chance to meet privately with some of the team that cared for the Duke of Edinburgh when he was transferred for heart surgery in March.

Royal officials declined to say who, saying the hospital wanted to protect their identities, but confirmed the group included a nurse, a consultant and a therapist.

Philip, who died last month at the age of 99, spent four nights at St Barts, after being transferred from the private King Edward VII Hospital on 1st March.

He subsequently underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition, before being moved back to the King Edward VII.
