Perrie Edwards has been enjoying some winter sun and sharing some sizzling bikini snaps in the process, but we’ve also spotted she’s got one of the biggest hair trends of the moment – money-piece highlights.

The 28 year old, who gave birth last summer, is currently on a family holiday with boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and their adorable baby son Axel, who is now five months old.

In a series of snaps from her beach destination, Perrie can be seen sporting chunky, face-framing blonde highlights that are lighter than the rest of her hair colour and give a very subtle nod to the 90s.

The Little Mix star is not the only one to jump on the trend, with everyone from Kylie Jenner to Beyoncé having given the style a go in recent years. And, according to one top hairdresser, the secret to Perrie’s perfect money-piece hair is that it doesn’t look overly “done”.

"I'm really liking Perrie's new money-piece look as it frames her face and gives a dimension and texture to her blonde base without it being overly coloured. For the last few years people have really heavily coloured their hair, so this method of front-section colouring is a great way of refreshing a look without over-processing," explains celebrity hair stylist Jason Collier, who has counted the likes of Sienna Miller and Victoria Beckham as clients.

"Money-piece accents can suit everybody, not even just blondes like Perrie,” he continues. “You can even do it with pastel colours on the front sections, depending on their shade.”

So, what do you need to know if you want to try the money-piece trend the next time you’re in the salon?

"If you want to give the look a try, ask your colourist for money-piece highlights, and specify the thickness of the sections [not too thick],” Jason advises. “The style has a tendency sometimes to look a bit too chunky, when it should be face-framing and soft. Ideally you don't want the finished result to be too 90s-era Geri Halliwell."
