Pregnant Natasha Hamilton has opened up about how her kids reacted to the news that she was expecting another baby and how they felt when the discovered their unborn sibling’s gender.

Atomic Kitten star Natasha, 40, announced in February that she was expecting another baby – her first with husband Charles Gay – and has since revealed that the happy couple are set to welcome a little girl later this year.

In the wake of her happy news, Natasha spoke to OK! at Manchester's The Baby Show about her pregnancy and shared how her four kids reacted to her pregnancy.

The singer is mum to Josh, 20, Harry, 18, Alfie, 12, and eight year old Ella, whom she shares with previous partners.

“I wanted to do a nice video of when we told the kids that we were having a baby. So the plan was I was going to be taking a picture of them saying ‘say cheese’ and then say ‘we’re having a baby!’ and when I said it Josh, my eldest, swore straight away, so I couldn’t post it on Instagram," Natasha told us.

“He said a swear word, but in a nice, surprised way.”

She went on: “Ella cried and my other boys were like ‘what?!’. But the thing is, everyone knew we’d been trying for quite a while. Everyone was just happy [at the news].”

While her sons were shocked at the time, over Christmas her kids had shared their hopes for another sibling.

“At Christmas, the boys wrote in our card: ‘Hopefully the new year brings another baby’. I thought that was really sweet,” recalled Natasha.

Discussing their recent gender reveal, the boys wore blue in the hopes of having a little brother, while eight year old Ella wore pink.

“Ella was desperate to have a little sister. I was convinced it was a boy, but she was like, ‘No. It’s a girl’,” the mum-of-four said.

“I thought, oh god… if this is a boy then there’s going to be some tears!”

Since finding out that they have a little girl on the way, excited big sister Ella has apparently created “a whole social calendar” of events including shopping and sleepovers.

While Natasha has ended up with a big family, the songstress admitted that it hadn’t always been on her agenda to have a large brood.

She explained: “I wasn’t very maternal when I was younger. I was very career driven. When I think back to the early days of Atomic Kitten and we had in-store signings, people would bring their babies, I would be terrified to hold them when girls would want to hold them and nurture the babies. I was just a bit like ‘No, not for me’.”

“How times change!” the soon-to-be mum-of-five went on to quip.

While many parents would feel apprehensive about expecting a fifth child, Natasha said she doesn’t feel particularly overwhelmed about it all.

“Josh is 21 this year and Harry will be 19, so that’s a big gap. Josh lives away from home and has done so for years, and Harry’s about to finish his A-Levels and wants to go travelling, so in the house we’ll be back to a family-of-three,” insisted the Real Housewives of Cheshire star.

“It doesn’t feel overwhelming in any way. I’m glad [Charles and I] have the opportunity to have a baby.”

Charles and Natasha wed in a stunning Italian ceremony in 2021 and have labelled their pending bundle of joy as their “little miracle” after trying to conceive for some time.

The star is currently halfway through her pregnancy and is expected to give birth around September.

The Baby Show is being hosted at Manchester Central until Sunday 16 April.
