DEAR DEIDRE: I AM smitten with my girlfriend but I feel so guilty about sending explicit pictures to a woman I used to work with.

I am 23, my girlfriend is 21 and we have been in a very happy relationship for three years.

But one night before the lockdown, I got very drunk and stupidly sent explicit photos of my manhood to this woman.

She sent some naughty pics back to me. Even though there’s no chance my girlfriend will find out, as the woman I sent the pictures to has even more to lose, I am still feeling very anxious.

I have deleted the photos and so has the woman. I have confided in a friend, who has told me to stop worrying and forget about it.

But I’m still wondering if I should tell my girlfriend. It would be crazy to lose her because of five minutes of drunken idiocy. I am probably overreacting and should just put this behind me and focus on my relationship, but I can’t stop worrying.

DEIDRE SAYS: This is about your guilt. Telling your girlfriend might ease your conscience but it would cause more pain to both of you.

If you’re certain she won’t find out – and sure you won’t repeat this – then put it behind you.

Learn a lesson. Never drink so much that you lose control again. Focus on your happy relationship. It is better to confide in a close friend or counsellor instead.
