The 42-year-old Brazilian model looked sensational in a black blazer and a pink make-up look further softened by long beach waves.

Experts reveal how to effortlessly create the hairstyle at home:

START BY STRAIGHTENING HAIR:

For those with wavy or slightly curly hair, beach waves can enhance their natural texture, showcasing the beauty of their hair without too much manipulation.

But if you have very curly hair, you’ll need to blow it out first. Before doing anything, Ashley recommends spraying the hair with a heat protectant.

‘Focus on applying the heat protectant on the ends of the hair, with less applied to the roots,’ she said.

The Los Angeles-based talent favors Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Heat Styling Spray.

‘It doesn’t need to be perfectly straight since you’ll use a curling iron to help get the beach waves, but you want to remove some of your hair’s natural texture,’ explained  stylist Jimmy Paul.

Celebrity stylist DJ Quintero – who’s worked with the likes of Katie Holmes, Amanda Seyfried and Elizabeth Olsen to name a few – prefers to diffuse or rough dry the hair to get any sort of bend or natural movement in the hair using Living Proof Full Stylers.

Beach waves pair well with the light and airy summer fashion trends, such as  denim shorts and crop tops, a la Nina Agdal

For her clients with very curly hair, Vianney Estrella, Bio Ionic & Ouidad educator & stylist at Pins and Lipstick Salon in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, likes to start with a fresh clean canvas.

‘To begin, I cleanse and condition with Ouidad’s Waterworks Shampoo followed by Advanced Climate Control’s Defrizzing Conditioner.

‘As a primer I use the Detangling heat spray, Stronger hold gel (for longer wear) finished and softened with Mongongo Oil. These products work well for ALL curl types.’

Beach waves add to the overall bohemian, carefree aesthetic of summer style

Summer can bring hot and humid weather, making more intricate hairstyles less appealing.

Beach waves require minimal styling and can work well with natural texture, making them ideal for coping with the heat.

Nina Agdal looked like a total beach babe in Miami, Florida is cutoff denim shorts, a crop top, and the perfect beach wave hairstyle.

CREATE WAVE WITH THE RIGHT WAND:

To create effortless beachy waves, the experts suggest a 1” curling iron set at 400 degrees.

Before using the tool, ‘part your hair in the middle of your head and start by separating hair into one inch sections.’ shared Jimmy.

‘Then, hold the curling iron in one hand and wrap one section of hair around the wand away from your face, letting the last inch or so hang off.’

Since beach waves have an undone look, the ends are to be straight.

‘Letting the last bit of hair hang off the iron insures it won’t curl so you have that straight effect at the bottom of your hair,’ Jimmy said.

‘Hold your hair in the curling iron for 15-20 seconds or until hair feels warm.’

To get that perfectly imperfect look, Jimmy – who’s worked with Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Lana del Rey, and many more A-listers – suggests taking 3-4 sections from both sides of your part and curling them toward your face so that the waves have alternating curl patterns.

‘You actually don’t want all the waves to look the same – a great beach wave look has an undone, messy, imperfect element.

‘Once hair is dry, spritz it again with Olaplex Volumizing Blow Dry Mist to give hair a bit of texture for the curling iron to grab onto.’

DJ is a fan of all the Harry Josh Pro Tools curling irons, the HJPT flatiron, and the Trademark Beauty Babe Waves Jumbo.

‘The easiest is using Babe Waves Jumbo because it is basically a large crimper,’ he explained.

BRUSH IT THROUGH TO CREATE TEXTURE:

‘When finished and hair is completely cooled, I run my fingers through the waves rather than using a brush because it allows for more texture and a more random beachy wave pattern,’ said Ashley.

‘For extra texture and hold I like to apply a very small amount of Living Proofs Style Lab® amp²® Texture Volumizer to the waves. I do this by applying a pea sized amount in my hands, warm it up and lightly apply to random waves for a little added style and hold.’

Jimmy suggests finishing the look, especially the ends, with a hair oil like Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil.

To enhance the beachy effect, consider adding texturizing products or hairspray to hold the waves in place while maintaining the effortless and relaxed look.
