Free vaccine clinic for dogs

This community service will have budget-minded pet parents wagging their tails. The Foothills Animal Shelter and the city of Arvada, in partnership with Petco Love, are helping families take care of their canine cohorts by offering free vaccinations. On April 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the shelter is holding a vaccine clinic at Arvada High School (north parking lot) at 7951 W. 65th Ave. Dogs can receive the distemper and parvo vaccines at no cost. (Please make sure your dog is on a leash.) In addition, the shelter will have a limited supply of pet food available, free-of-charge for those in need.

Toy & Doll Supershow

Fans of vintage and collectible toys, dolls and comics are in the spotlight at the Toy & Doll Supershow. Taking place for the first time since 2019, a huge 30th anniversary show is set for April 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Delta by Marriott Hotel (10 E. 120th Ave.) in Northglenn. With more than 200 tables of toys, comics and more, there will definitely be something special to find for every collector and enthusiast in attendance. Admission is $5. Children under 12 are admitted free. Those who want first crack at the show floor can get in early at 10 a.m. for $10. Tickets are sold at the door only. Cash and credit card accepted.

Noodles & Company April weekend specials

This spring, there are oodles of savings for noodle lovers. Noodles & Company has a new deal every weekend in April, Friday to Sunday. Here’s the deal schedule: April 1-3, free side of mac & cheese or side salad; April 8-10, free small shareable with the purchase of a regular entrée; April 15-17, free delivery for orders placed via the Noodles’ site or app; and April 22-24, purchase any size entrée and get a small entrée for free. Bass Pro Shops (Denver) and Cabela’s (Lone Tree and Thornton) are hopping with family fun for Easter. Families can get a 4-by-6 photo with the Easter Bunny at no cost. Meet the big bunny on April 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Customers can upgrade to a photo package for $15 to $20.) Online reservations are required for all locations. Reservations open April 3.;

PetSmart Easter Bunny

Pet parents can bring their four-legged kids to PetSmart for a free digital photo with the Easter Bunny on April 9 from noon to 3 p.m. You can also snap pictures with your smartphone or own camera. Schedule an appointment online by selecting a location and specific time. When you arrive for the event, check in and receive a golden egg scratcher card; everyone wins. Easter photos are available at all PetSmart locations.

Café Rio’s Taco Tuesdays

Café Rio Mexican Grill is now offering Taco Tuesday specials. Every Tuesday, the restaurant offers a single taco for just $2.49. (The taco regularly sells for $4.49, so it’s nearly 45% off.) Even better, customers can turn the special into a full meal by adding beans, rice and a drink for just $3. The offer is available in-restaurant on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. as well as online.

Taco Bell’s Rockies special

Taco Bell is stepping up to the plate again for the 2022 baseball season with its popular Colorado Rockies special. The day following a game in which the Rockies score seven or more runs (win or lose), fans score four regular crunchy tacos for $2 between 4 and 6 p.m. During the regular season, the offer is valid at participating locations in the Denver metro area, in-restaurant or at the drive-through. From 4 to 5 p.m., customers can also get a medium drink for just $1. There will be plenty of opportunities to make a cheap taco run this summer.

Arvada Kite Festival

After a two-year break, the Arvada Kite Festival is set to fill the skies again on April 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stenger Soccer Complex (11200 W. 58th Ave.) The high-flying event will thrill all ages with the artistry of kite flying and friendly competition. Bring your own kite or buy one on-site. There will also be musical entertainment, local vendors, kids’ activities, community booths and more. Gates open at 9:45 a.m. No animals or barbecue grills allowed. Admission is free and parking is first-come, first-served.

Venardos Circus discount

Families can take a break from their own “three-ring circus” at home and enjoy the fanfare of Venardos Circus. This Broadway-style circus is perfect for the whole family. The performance features no animals, only amazing talent of the humankind, including acrobats, contortionists, comedians and more. This spring, the show is making two family-friendly stops in the area. The first run of shows is at Aspen Grove (7301 S. Santa Fe Dr.) in Littleton, from April 14 to 24. The next stop is at Collison Brewing Company (1436 Skyway Dr.) in Longmont, from April 27 to May 8. Showtimes vary by day, with additional performances on the weekends. Compared to similar touring shows, ticket prices are budget-friendly — ranging from $16.50 to $47. However, families can save 20 percent online with promo code MHCHEAP. The discount applies to any showtime, any date and any seat level.

Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival

More than 15,000 tulips will be blooming in time for the annual Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall on April 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. The free family-friendly event features the lovely Tulip Fairy fluttering about, as little ones dressed as fairies and elves prance and play. Activities include face painting and henna, foam-sword dueling, arts and crafts projects and live entertainment. Don’t miss the photo-worthy Parades with the Tulip Fairy, leaving from the performance stage at 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 p.m. The festival is even more fanciful for parents, because parking is free on Sundays at all Boulder municipal garages and street meters. If the weather turns out to not be so spring-like, the rain date is May 1.

Spring is all about making everything fresh and anew. Shop the festive market April 30 and May 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Boulder at the former Bed, Bath & Beyond space (1741 28th St.).
