Brits who passed their driving tests before 2014 have been issued a warning by the DVLA.

Posting on Twitter, it reminded drivers to renew their licences every 10 years.

So if it's been a whole decade since you passed your test, it's time to get applying for a new licence.

Drivers should receive a reminder from the DVLA about this update and you can renew easily online.

It should take up to a week for it to arrive where you'll need to send the old licence back to the DVLA.

Failure to return the expired licence is an offence under the Road Traffic Act 1988 which could result in a fine.

It comes after an investigation in October found more than 900,000 drivers were at risk of failing to renew their photocard licences.

To renew your licence, you'll need your passport, current licence and National Insurance Number, as well as your address.

The process costs £14 and it's available to residents of Great Britain who haven't been disqualified from driving.

After sharing the warning, the DVLA added a paper licence is valid until the age of 70.

Although drivers are issued with a photocard if they need to update their name or address.

There could be changes to speed limits and adjustments to fuel duty.

Number plates will also face changes this year.

The UK will get two new number plates in 2023 for newly-registered cars, something which happens every year.

From March, new cars will be registered under the "23" number plate, and in September, it's the "73" plate.
