“Debris” has been canceled after one season at NBC, Variety has learned.

The news comes shortly after the first season finale, which aired on May 24. In the series, when wreckage from a destroyed alien spacecraft scatters across the Western Hemisphere, it soon becomes apparent the pieces are messing with the laws of physics, changing lives in ways we can’t comprehend. Two agents (Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele) from different continents, and different mindsets, are tasked to work together to recover the debris, whose mysteries humankind is not quite ready for.

The series also starred Norbert Leo Butz and Scroobius Pip. J.H. Wyman created the series and served as executive producer and showrunner via Frequency Films. Jason Hoffs, Jeff Vlaming and Samantha Corbin-Miller also executive produced. Legendary Television produced in association with Universal Television.

“Debris” failed to get off to a great start in the ratings and never found its footing. The series is averaging a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 and just under 5 million viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+7 numbers season to date.

With the cancellation, the NBC shows still awaiting word on new seasons are “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” “Good Girls,” and “Manifest.”

NBC had renewed a good number of its scripted shows going into upfronts. The network has already renewed the following shows: “The Blacklist,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Kenan,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Mr. Mayor,” “New Amsterdam,” “Transplant,” and “Young Rock.” It was previously announced that “This Is Us” will end with its sixth season, while “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is set to end with its upcoming eighth season this summer.
