Cher has revealed that she suffered from three miscarriages – including one at 18 years old, which left her screaming in pain and resulted in her being rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

The singer, 76, opened up about her pregnancy losses on Twitter amid the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, explaining that her first miscarriage took place when she was just a teen.

‘When I was young I had three miscarriages. First at 18. I was alone in our house,’ she wrote in a powerful post shared on Monday.

The Believe songstress said that when her husband at the time, Sonny Bono, came home, he found her ‘sobbing and rocking on the floor.’ He quickly brought her to the doctor, and by the time she got there, she said she was ‘screaming in pain.’

‘Couldn’t even stop [screaming] in [the] elevator,’ she continued. ‘Doctor sent me straight to hospital, and into the operating room.’

He quickly brought Cher (seen at age 18) to the doctor, and by the time she got there, she said she was ‘screaming in pain.’ She was then rushed into emergency surgery

She didn’t share any other further details on the incident or the other miscarriages.

Cher ended the tweet by questioning what would happen to her if she was in that situation today, as states across the US continue to place bans on abortion.

The 76-year-old went on to welcome two children, a son named Chaz Bono, now 53, with Sonny, and a son named Elijah Blue Allman, now 46, with her second husband, Gregg Allman.

She was married to Sonny (who passed away in 1998) from 1964 to 1975. She then wed Gregg (who died in 2017) in 1975, but they divorced after four years together.

Cher has been very outspoken about her distain for SCOTUS’ decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, especially as more and more stories have emerged about women being told that they can’t get abortions, even in dire situations.

‘Women will bleed out and die, while some group of old, white, Republican men decide what medical treatment you deserve,’ she tweeted in a separate post.

She added in another: ‘Politicians in red states care nothing about what happens to mothers and babies.

‘Red states are forcing women to be near death before they get any treatment.’

In the wake of the Roe v. Wade overturning, many expecting mothers have come forward and spoken out about not being allowed to terminate a pregnancy, even after they were told the baby wasn’t going to survive or that their health was at risk.

One woman, named Chloe, 21, from Arizona, recently revealed on Instagram that she found out 23 weeks into her pregnancy that her baby was ‘incompatible with life.’

She planned to have the fetus removed, but after Roe v. Wade was overturned, she was told  by her doctor that because it still had a heartbeat, he wouldn’t be allowed to go through with the procedure.

That means she will now have to carry the baby until it either ‘dies inside of her’ or until she gives birth on her own, despite her claiming that it has seizures ‘multiple times a day’ in the womb and that it has no chance of survival when it is born.

Another woman in a similar situation, Andrea Prudente, 38, from Washington, began suffering from a miscarriage while on vacation in Malta, where abortion is illegal

The expectant mother was told her fetus had a ruptured membrane and detached placenta – however, its heart was still bleeding so doctors couldn’t perform an abortion

She is now saving up to travel to another state so that she can get an abortion.

Another woman in a similar situation, Andrea Prudente, 38, from Washington, began suffering from a miscarriage while on vacation in Malta, where abortion is illegal.

The expectant mother, who was 16-weeks pregnant at the time, was told her fetus had a ruptured membrane, detached placenta, and there was no amniotic fluid in the womb – however, its heart was still bleeding.

Doctors said they could not perform an abortion, despite the fact that Andrea’s life was at serious risk due to the possibility of hemorrhaging and infection.

She was later flown to Spain where she was able to receive the abortion.

‘Republicans will make prisoners/chattel of American women,’ Cher said in another tweet.

‘Life as we know it is gone. Women are suffering and will either bleed out, while doctors look on, or be sent home ’til their complications bring them close to [death].’
