Ah, summer. The days are longer, the weather is warmer, and we’re all generally in a better mood. That mood boost is only, er, boosted with the help of one or two of the best summer perfumes, paired with a sunset and a golden hour cocktail.

Of course, there are no hard or fast rules as to what perfume you wear all year round; fragrance is very personal. But the seasonal spritzers that we tend to lean towards at this time of year are often lighter with refreshing citrus, oceanic, fruit and floral notes, while heavier spicy and woody concoctions take a back seat.

Let us tell you, there are some corkers that have launched recently, so we decided to round up a few new summer perfumes that perfectly fit with our holiday mood. Right this way for your new signature scent…

The best summer perfumes for 2022

Marc Jacobs Daisy Ever So Fresh Eau De Parfum, from £56 here

Pure flower power. This mix of radiant rose water, sparkling citrus and soft cashmere woods is the most concentrated Daisy ever, meaning it will last long after the sun sinks beyond the sea.

Paco Rabanne Olympéa Solar Eau De Toilette, from £56 here

Like evening rays of golden sunshine lingering on skin, this intense new fragrance is a warm and sensual combination of mandarin, white blossoms and ylang ylang.

Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau de Voyage Eau De Parfum, from £49 here

This playful perfume shares the floral heart of the original Wonderlust and adds in a sea salt accord – think carefree adventure, think impulsive sunset cruise. Why not?

Coach Wild Rose Eau De Parfum, from £36.50 here

A free-spirited ramble through a meadow of jasmine and rose, shadows lengthening until you emerge into a warm dusk of woody ambroxan and earthy moss.

Kenzo Flower By Kenzo L’Absolue Eau De Parfum, £75 here

Here a floral bouquet of poppy, Damask rose and orange blossom is given added depth by the addition of spicy saffron. The result is an easy-going fragrance reminiscent of a warm breeze at the end of the day (no cardigan required).

Granado Pharmácias Bossa Eau De Toilette, £58 here

Picture yourself watching the sun go down on a beach in Rio, as you mist on the cocktail creaminess of coconut plus notes of sea, sun-drenched flowers and citrus.

Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine Eau De Parfum, £77 here

Celebrating the sweet yet sultry scent of jasmine, a flower with a fragrance that truly comes alive as night falls. Base notes of sandalwood and benzoin give this a sensual, skin-like finish.

Furla Autentica EDT, from £35 here

You’ve got the dress, heels and bag, so what better final accessory for a summer night than Autentica? It’s a chic blend of mandarin, cherry blossom and musk, in a bottle inspired by Furla’s handbags.

Caudalie Eau Fraiche Thé Des Vignes, £28 here

This floral number is one of five vineyard-inspired fragrances on offer from Caudalie, with notes of jasmine, white musk, orange blossom and neroli. It’s a lovely floral and slightly fruity fragrance, but not too sickly sweet. It's one of the more affordable perfumes out there, so a great choice if you don’t want to spend too much.

Ariana Grande God Is A Woman Eau de Parfum, £28 here

Long before she was making great makeup (read deputy beauty editor Zoe’s r.e.m. beauty chapter 2 review to see what we mean), Ariana Grande has blessed us with several affordable fragrances over the years. The new addition named after one of her most recognisable hits is a fruity floral scent that’s a cool mix of ambrette, pear, Turkish rose petals, vanilla and creamy cedar – all for less than £30.

Diptyque Ilio Eau de Toilette, £107 here

French perfume house Diptyque’s limited edition Summer Essentials collection is all inspired by the Mediterranean, so naturally the Ilio fragrance is very much a holiday vibe. Think bergamot, prickly pear, jasmine and iris. Beautifully illustrated bottle aside it’s a gorgeous summer scent and despite being an EDT, we found it lasted pretty well. It’s fresh and sweet and smells like sunshine – perfect for any upcoming holidays to Greece or Italy.

MCM Collector’s Edition Eau de Parfum, £69.50 for 50ml here

Raspberry, apricot, peony and jasmine are the key players in this fresh unisex fragrance, wearing down to a woods and vanilla base that’s not too heavy for this time of year. And if you like fun packaging, this new bottle, created in collaboration with Korean street artist SAMBYPEN, will make a great addition to your fragrance collection.

Happy spritzing!
